Scroll Documents, Scroll Versions and Pages' title management
Hello
A customer of mine has deployed Scroll Versions and enabled "Allow duplicated title in space" feature.
That option was interesting to create documentation (without Scroll Documents first) and having a proper page hierarchy with common title for sections as child page.
Now I introduce Scroll Documents to get benefits of per-document versioning and comparison.
But I am wondering what is the best way to handle pages' title with both apps installed:
- Is it possible to leave Scroll Documents prefix empty when copying from a template?
- Root page's title may be inconsistent.
Document has his own title, if changed, root page title has to be fixed in both title and permalink to get consistent from in "Document" and in "Pages" hierarchy.
Have you got any hint how pages' titles should be managed when using both Scroll Documents and Versions?

Hello Yves,
Scroll Documents and Scroll versions, even though they have some overlaps in terms of features, solve different use cases. Additionally, they work very differently under the hood.
We don't recommend using both apps in the same space as the compatibility between apps hasn't been tested and is not planned for future releases.
Best regards,
Dash.

Thanks.
I want to stress that page title duplication support is a must have with Confluence, and Scroll Versions provide one way to allow it, when Scroll Documents introduces another mecanism.
With Scroll Documents 1.2, the "edit document outline" feature even stress that page conflict issue:
Now, what user should do? Name its document section as "Introduction2" or "Introduction3"... it does not make sense.
Again, my opinion is that any Document MUST have a "title prefix" set at creation (and not only when copied from elsewhere), at least to allow multiple child pages with common title like "Introduction", "Glossary", "Appendix"...
Also when creating a Document from existing page hierarchy, it would be helpful to request for "title prefix", as there is chance child pages' titles are already prefixed.

Hello Yves,
Thank you for bringing this up.
We are aware of the current inconsistencies pertaining to the Document prefixes and are in the process of trying to find out the best way to handle this.
The suggestions you have made sound like good solutions. I will communicate them to the team.
In the meantime, we are tracking this issue here - https://k15t.jira.com/browse/DOCS-44
