Fun with comment sync - be aware of these drawbacks
Just a word of caution.
I just disrupted our development department by starting to sync comments from the product development JIRA project to a customer specific project containing a subset of the product development issues.
Problem is, @mention notification cannot be configured at all. It just notifies everybody at every mention "created"...
We have a significant number of developers working for product features of the customer in question - imagine their "joy" about being notified for old comments.
I will open enhancement requests for both Backbone Sync (convert @mentions to static text) and Atlassian (make JIRA @mention notifications configurable on a project level).
Until either or both solutions are available, beware of @mentions!

Hi Peter,
thanks for your message here! As you've pointed out, Jira does not offer an option to disable notifications for @-mentions. However, we've used your feedback and created a feature request for Backbone in our Jira instance which you can watch or vote for: https://k15t.jira.com/browse/BAC-1262. The suggestion with converting the mentions to static text might be the only possible workaround for now...
Cheers,
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian
Meanwhile, I created my request as outlined above in JSWSERVER-19938
Let's see how much support we get for this proposal.
Yours truly
Peter
