Autocomplete repetitive phrases stored in Include Library?
Hi there,
is it possible or are there any plans for detecting repetitive text input during writing?
Example: I am writing documentation in Confluence and I am not aware of every single text snippet that is stored in the Include Library. Is there a way to display most likely phrase continuations during writing for quick selection?

Hi Michaela,
I recommend creating text snippets as separate Confluence pages with understandable titles in the Include Library. Later when you are using Include Plus or Excerpt Include Plus, you can simply select the page/text snippet by looking at the title.

When I got you right, there is no feature for detecting already used text and suggesting it to the author during writing.So we will do it the way you described. I think it will be ok.
Nevertheless, it would be a very nice feature to get proposals for already used phrases because regarding very long documentation it is hard to keep all text snippets in mind :-)

Given that Include Plus and Excerpt Include Plus doesn't offer typing but rather selecting a page to be included, where would you expect those already created snippets to appear after you start typing? Would a search filed inside Include Plus macro do the job?

I am thinking of the following scenario:
I have to update a Manual. I add some text (e. g. action steps, notes and so on). Then while writing I realised that the sentence I just wrote sounds familiar to me. But what is the standardised formulation I should use? Do I have to write:
- Please click the pushbutton SAVE.?
- Click the knob "Save".?
- Click the "Save" button.?
- You have to click the key "Save".?
- Click "Save".?
It would be nice if Confluence identifies text that already exists in a snippet and suggests it to the author so that each authors uses the same wording for the same information so that the Manual is consistent in style and terminology.

This sounds like a very cool idea, even a bit from the future :-)
However, I think this might be a little out of scope for Scroll Versions currently. There other products that help in terminology and language such as Acrolinx, which we have an app for in Confluence: Scroll Acrolinx Connector. As you type the content in Confluence, Acrolinx Connector checks with the Acrolinx Server about your style of words, terminology, typos, etc.
If, however, you only use your own "library of terms and words" in the form of Include library, than Acrolinx won't be able to help. I will speak with the rest of the team if this idea of Versions suggesting a snippet of text from the Include Library can be added to the agreed and possible improvement for Scroll Versions.

Hi Roman and Michaela,
Acrolinx and Scroll Acrolinx Connector are fantastic tools, but they are way outside the realm of possibilities for relatively small tech writer teams whose number is in the 1-digit range. We will never get a budget approval for that from our finance departments.
So maybe Scroll Versions could evolve to be a stripped-down Acrolinx for teams on a budget, and include a feature to scan the currently w.i.p. content and the reusable content space/library to provide as-you-type autosuggest as described by Michaela.
