Confused about page link references

I have created a page called "Page A" with permalink "Page A".  I then created another page named "Page A" with permalink "Page A Again".  I have edits of both of these pages under several versions.   In version "1.1", I am trying to make a link reference to "Page A".  When searching for pages to link to, I am offered the following list:

.Page A Again v1.1

Page A Again

Page A

.Page A v1.0

.Page A v1.1a

.Page A v1.1

I am confused as to the ramification of these choices.  When editing version "1.1" of the referencing page, I expect to get version "1.1" of the referenced page.  When I move on to version "1.2" of the referencing page, I expect to have a link to version "1.2" of the reference page without having to bump up all of the link versions myself.

What option to I pick from the list?  My guess is the "Page A" option but I am afraid that that might refer to the currently published version ... which it is not since version 1.0 is still the published version.

My reading of the documentation has not help me understand the best practice for page-link management

  Hi Edward,

  thanks for contacting us.

  The simpliest way to insert links on spaces managed with Scroll Versions is to use the "Browse Page Tree" functionality. In this view, you don't see the versioned pages and can't link to wrong pages accidently.

  If you want to insert your links using the "Search" functionality, you should make sure to always link to the masterpages (the one without the dot before and the version name after the page title. In your example "Page A", respective "Page A Again").

  Depending on the selected version in the working version drop-down, Scroll Versions automatically links to the page in the corresponding version. If you'll publish this version, the link will go to the currently published version.

  Yes, good explanation confirming what I had hoped about the "un-dotted" version.  I had not known about the Browse Page Tree option.  Definitely worth putting into the user doc.

  Hi Edward,

  Scroll Versions needs to be activated in the space. If you then click "Insert Link" you should see the "Browse Page Tree" tab (see attached screenshot).
