Hello

Does anybody know how to show/hide columns in a table ?

I was considering using the conditionalcontent macro but it's useless.

Any idea ?

  to raise a similar question: How can I get table columns to show in Variant A, but not in Variants B and C?

  Hi Michael,

  currently it is only possible to include a whole table in a Conditional-Content-Macro. I have to talk about an improvement regarding the support of single table columns in a Conditional-Content-Macro. But as this is quite complex to handle I am not sure if we can implement it.

  As a workaround you could try to copy the whole table in a Conditional-Content-Macro and edit the corresponding columns in the matching variants.

  thanks for the fast answer. That workaround should do. However, I hoped I could avoid maintaining the information twice. If you are looking for an example of how to implement tagging tables by row or column: The Madcap Flare Editor does this very well.

  I would also really like the ability to make a table row conditional.  Since most of the time fields and configuration entities are defined in tables this seems like a must have feature for any single sourcing tech doc. initiative?

  Hi Michael, 

  I would advise to put the entire table as a conditional content, because, as of now, we do not support having individual rows or columns as conditional content due to its complexity. We would have to process & modify the XML Confluence storage format which from my experience is very cumbersome. We deal with this kind of thing with conditional bullet points but it has taught us a lesson to, if possible, avoid it in the future. Putting the entire table content in its own conditional content may not be the most ideal but by far the most stable and most maintainable solution.

  Is there news to ignore a column when exporting?

  We have a large table and want to have it only once in our wiki (one single data source). And in this table we would like to have a column where we can post our internal comments. Of course, these should not appear in a PDF export. So there should be an ignore command for columns.

  Or is there another good approach?

  Hi Urs,

  The only way to achieve this would be to wrap the table with your internal information into a scroll-ignore macro, to exclude it from being exported.
  There's no way to do this on column level, but you'd need to put the whole table into this macro unfortunately.
