Can Scroll Office captions be referenced/linked?

    Hi Klaas,

you need to work with anchors in such cases, they will also be preserved in the exported file.

Additionally, it's possible to define a table of figures in your MS Word template, referencing all Scroll Title macros.

    Does that help?

A common use case would be that you have a figure or table in your text and need a reference from the text in a printed document - i.e., the exported Word Document.

Say I have a picture that is captioned as "Figure 17: Something to see in this photo". Later I want to reference to that picture like this: "This can then be seen in the photo (Figure 17)". This is similar toanother Confluence plugin which works fine if browsing contents in Confluence itself but resets the figure count with every new page once exported to a Word document using Scroll Office.

Since these references would also be visible in the Confluence text it would be great that the figure count would be displayed alongside the caption title, e.g. after checking a checkbox property "Always show figure count" in the macro properties. Actually, it would also be very useful to not be forced to enter a title as "Figure 17" is often all you need as a caption.

Is such a thing already possible in Scroll Office and I just can't see it? If not, would it be possible to add this feature to the plugin?

    Hi Dominik,

Thanks for reaching out. The mentioned functionality is currently not supported, however you can have a table of figures (tables) to have an overview of all captions used in a certain document, as stated above.

Which other Confluence add-on are you referring to?

I've created a new feature request to have a macro to refer to specific captions from within Confluence:

The plugin for numbered captions (which does exactly what we need but isn't fully compatible with Scroll Office) can be found here:

It has a macro for captions (just like the "Scroll Title" macro) and has an ID for reference. Another macro allows you to reference this caption via the provided ID and renders a link with a text containing the caption count. However, it always resets the caption count on every other page. For most pages which only have one image or table this leads to dozens of "Figure 1" captions.

I've been spruiking Confluence and Scroll Office at my workplace as being the solution to our reporting problems, and then this was one of the first things asked of me by an early adopter.
Now I'm banging my head for overlooking something so fundamental to report writing!

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks for your post.

Our developers have begun the initial refinement for implementing this issue in Scroll Office. Once this has been completed and it has been determined how best to introduce this functionality and the effort it will require, we will be able to plan into one of our development sprints.

I can see that you are already watching the issue ( and I can understand the importance of this feature in terms of your workflow for report writing. Please continue to watch the JIRA issue to keep up-to-date.

    Cheers, Thomas (K15t Software)
