Space Watchers getting notified of a new page in an un-published version?
Should space Watchers receive email notifications when a new page is added to a version that has not yet been published?
My steps:
Added Versions to a space. I plan to publish to same space.
Created a new version, but not yet published.
Added a new page to this new, un-published version.
A confluence user, that is watching this space, received an email notification of a new page. When click on View Page, page cannot be viewed because "..page does not exist in the selected version".
There are no versions for the user to select.
How do I keep Watchers from seeing activity on a version that has not been published yet? I'm new, so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong!
Thanks,
Karen.

Hi Karen, thanks for reaching out.
The reason a user receives an email notification is related to the way Scroll Versions works, When an author creates a new versioned page, a master page is created. Master page is the page what would be displayed in the Reader View after publishing. Technically a versioned page cannot be created without a master page, therefore a blank page is created and this triggers Confluence's email notification.
Even though the actual content is not sent in the notification email (only the page title), I have created a feature request to prevent an email notification trigger in such cases: https://k15t.jira.com/browse/VSN-3555. Sign up for an account in our Jira to watch and vote for this issue.
Cheers,
Roman.
